METEOR BUST

What the hell is going on today????? sun, rain, snow….
When we went to Acoma Pueblo our guide told us that all the natives do is pray for rain, in the morning and before bed at night.
The Sky city was stunning. Jack has all the pics since he got the camera pass—$10. The tour was grand, the story of Catholicism and the Spaniards despicable.

We then hit the road after a fantastic Breakfast of Beans and Huevos once again.

The drive was insane and beautiful. The landscape kept us in awe the whole way. Good bye to New Mexico and hello

The plan was to high tail it to Flagstaff as quickly as possible with a few Route 66 and hot spot stops along the way. We attempted the Petrified Forest as well as the Meteor crater. I looked down at my guide-book for 15 minutes and when I looked up suddenly it was a snow storm and we had 4 inches of snow on the ground. Just then we turned into the Petrified Forest national park. Snow plows were blasting past us and some fellow was shoveling the snow as we arrived at the information centre. CLOSED!

Jack was elated, he just wanted to get to Flagstaff and the snow-storm was stressing him out. Oh well. Before we left we did look at some sliced up rock forest and it is way better in person than in theory. There was a petrified stump on sale for $5000.00. No thanks.

Back on the road and with a little time on our hands we went for the Great Meteor hole. RIP-OFF! I refused to pay to see a hole in the ground, 2 miles ‘round or not, Jack agreed. As it turned out I had to hold him back, he was looking to just bushwhack it across the cow pastures and sneak in by foot. Even with a NO TRESPASSING SING every 3 feet. By then the weather had turned great, back to sun and big sky, we were in a good mood even with that Meteor sized pain in the ass.

We check into the Monte Vista, where all the stars have hung, The Duke, Humfrey Bogart, Air Supply, blah blah blah... we have the Barabara Stanwick suite/room. It is fantastic, big beds, cieling fan and windows out onto main street. We need a great nights sleep for tomorrow we hit the Grand Canyon. Oh yes. We will be out of touch for 24 hours as we climb down, stay over night and then climb back up, 5-7 hours each way. While in the Canyon we will be eating a $22 stew dinner, what the ?????????
